Sarah Birchall is an experimental sound artist whose practice consists of drawing and sound installations. Her curiosity with sound begins with listening and what it means to listen to sounds as someone who is hard-of-hearing.
Sarah’s current ideas explore the relationship between sound and architectural structures such as pipes, radiators and beams. These structures, often found in neglected and unoccupied spaces, reveal harmonic tones through physical interaction known as structural resonance. It is this phenomenon that holds Sarah’s fascination and her installations intend to explore its artistic potential.
Sarah is currently studying BA Fine Art at the University of Leeds and has recently completed a year abroad at the University of the Arts Helsinki in Finland.
